“The Golem of Brooklyn: A Novel,” by Adam Mansbach
“The Golem of Brooklyn,” by Adam Mansbach, author of The New York Times bestseller “Go the F**k to Sleep,” is a dark comedy that fuses Jewish folklore with modern-day issues. The story follows Len Bronstein, a private school art teacher who, while high, inadvertently molds and awakens a 5,000-year-old golem – traditionally summoned by a rabbi in times of great crisis.
Overwhelmed by his creation, Len teams up with Miri Apfelbaum, an ex-Hasid, and together they embark on a cross-country road trip to give the golem his mission: to defend the Jewish people against rising antisemitism, sparked by footage of the 2017 Unite the Right march at the University of Virginia.
