UVA men’s golf team captures second straight ACC title

The University of Virginia men’s golf team remains the class of the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday in Panama City, Florida.

UVA, ranked second nationally, sealed the championship with a match-play win over Stanford University. Three Cavaliers – Ben James, Bryan Lee and Paul Chang – took their matches over their Cardinal opponents to further stamp a historic era in Virginia men’s golf.

From 1954 until 2024, the Wahoos had never won an ACC title. Last year, they ended their drought. This year, they proved it was no fluke.

“An incredible group of guys,” UVA coach Bowen Sargent said .

Earlier Monday, the Hoos advanced from the semifinal round with . Junior Josh Duangmanee was the hero with a long birdie putt on the first playoff hole of his match.

UVA is the first team to repeat as ACC men’s golf champions since Georgia Tech won back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019. Sargent is now the 10th coach in league history to win multiple ACC men’s golf titles.

On Wednesday, the Cavaliers, national runners-up in 2025, will learn where they’re headed for the regional round of the NCAA championship tournament.
