For the second year in a row, U.S. News and World Reportās graduate school rankings place the University of Virginiaās School of Law No. 4 in the nation, behind the law schools at Stanford University, Yale University and the University of Chicago.
And for the first time, U.S. News released rankings by type of employment, listing UVA Law as tied at No. 2 with the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University for āMost Graduates at Big Law Firms,ā and tied at No. 5 with the University of Michigan for āMost Graduates in Federal Clerkships.ā
The U.S. News rankings, released each spring, evaluate academic quality and research success through a combination of peer assessments and statistical data, such as research funding and acceptance rates.

UVA remains the No. 1 public law school in the country in U.S. Newsā 2025 Best Graduate Schools rankings, released Tuesday.
In another first, U.S. News ranked Āé¶¹Ęƽā°ę Darden School of Business the No. 1 public school in America, tied with University of California, Berkeley.
Darden was No. 2 in 2024 and No. 3 the prior year. Overall, Darden is ranked No. 11 among all U.S. graduate business schools.
Other Darden rankings include:
- No. 1 for āEmployed at Graduationā rate for students of any school
- No. 1 for āEmployed Three Months After Graduationā among top 15 schools
- No. 1 public school for āAverage Starting Salary and Bonusā
U.S. News also ranked Āé¶¹Ęƽā°ę School of Education and Human Development No. 6 in the country. It first broke into the top 10 in the 2024 annual rankings.
The school is in eight-way tie with other institutions including Harvard University, New York University and Northwestern University.
