Ready, set, Wahoo: A new year begins at UVA

It’s the final countdown to a new year at the University of Virginia.

Students are moving in, and UVA is rolling out its signature , a packed lineup of events to introduce new students to the University.

“We are excited about beginning a new school year. Wahoo Welcome embraces our new students and starts them off in the spirit of building community,” Dean of Students Nicole Hall said.

鶹ƽ 10th president, Scott Beardsley, kicks things off Thursday. At 4 p.m., he will sit down with Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer Kenyon Bonner for “Grounds for Conversation” in Old Cabell Hall, to reflect on the first eight months of his presidency and look ahead to what’s next.

Then, the volume goes up with an old-fashioned pep rally and Opening Convocation, a time-honored ceremony on the Lawn, where students sign the honor pledge, promising not to lie, cheat or steal.

It’s a new year with new Hoos and new memories waiting to be made. Here are some Wahoo Welcome highlights.
