The committee searching for the next University of Virginia provost has added two new members.
Jim Lambert, a professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, will serve on the search committee. He is a former chair of the Faculty Senate and is the faculty representative to the Board of Visitors.
Evans Poston, newly appointed to the board, will serve as the board’s representative. He replaces Porter Wilkinson, who resigned from the board earlier this month. Poston is the director of federal and state affairs for Troutman Strategies and the former commissioner of the revenue in Norfolk. Gov. Abigail Spanberger appointed Poston to the board on Jan. 17.
Scott Beardsley stepped down from his role as committee chair when he was selected to be the University’s 10th president. Committee member Stephanie Rowley, dean of the School of Education and Human Development, then agreed to lead the committee.
The committee is searching for the next provost, the University’s top academic officer. The previous provost, Ian Baucom, left UVA last year to become president of Middlebury College in Vermont. Brie Gertler is currently serving as interim provost.
