A partnership between UVA and Hampton University is paying off for not just the visiting students from Hampton, but also for the UVA engineering professors and graduate students who are sharpening their instruction and mentoring.
Stephanie Rowley left Charlottesville in 1997 with two advanced degrees. She returns to Grounds 25 years later as the dean of the School of Education and Human Development.
UVA researchers have found that a gene known to cause a deadly type of brain cancer is behind two other childhood cancers as well. The discovery could lead to more effective treatments for cancers in children and adults.
“These are chemicals that can cause harm and are unregulated,” a UVA poison expert said. “There is no guarantee of what you are getting in these packages.”
