Myo Yan Naung Thein, who has spent decades trying to bring democracy to his home country, fled Myanmar in disguise after a military coup in February. Now he is at UVA, sharing his remarkable story with students.

John D’earth kicked off this semester’s “Arts on the Hill” series Tuesday as UVA President Jim Ryan hosted the first of several performances at Carr’s Hill this semester.
Through her work directing the Office of African-American Affairs’ Peer Advisor Program, she has “built stairways” for UVA students, leading to a sense of shared achievement.
